Volunteers

In 2021, the Sydney Peace Prize will be awarded to the Uluru Statement from the Heart. You have the unique opportunity to hear the voices, be part of the truth telling and witness the awarding of the prestigious Prize, presented to key architects of the Statement, Pat Anderson AO, Professor Megan Davis and Noel Pearson.

We are currently mobilising the 2021 Peace Prize volunteers’ team to help with production, event management, artist liaison and more. We would love you to be part of it. You are welcome to sign up for the Lecture, Gala Dinner, or both! Details below.

Sydney Peace Prize Award Ceremony and Lecture

When: Thursday 17th March 2022

Where: Sydney Town Hall

Why: Each year the Sydney Peace Prize is awarded during a public ceremony at Sydney Town Hall. The City of Sydney Peace Prize Lecture is delivered by the year’s Prize recipient and offers the recipient a platform from which to educate and advocate for their important work. The Lecture is also the primary means by which SPF engages Sydneysiders in conversations about peace with justice.

Sydney Peace Prize Gala Dinner

When: Friday 25th March 2022

Where: Carriageworks, Eveleigh

Why: The Sydney Peace Prize Gala Dinner is a celebration of the recipient’s achievements, an opportunity for guests to discuss the Lecture and the recipient’s work and is also the Foundation’s main fundraising event of the year.

Volunteer opportunities and internships

We rely on the great work of interns and volunteers. Being part of the Foundation’s team as a volunteer or intern is a great way to develop your skills and expertise and be a part of a tight-knit community passionate about peace and justice.

You will be an important member of a small and committed team that delivers our annual Sydney Peace Prize program and associated events. Plus, you will have the opportunity to attend the Sydney Peace Prize events and take a look behind the scenes.

We are currently recruiting for a number of volunteer opportunities / internships. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, please apply as soon as possible. If you feel your skill-set spans elements of different positions please do not hesitate to get in touch, we would love to hear from you!

We are of course happy to honour and sign off on any accreditation/study requirements as well as provide a letter of recommendation and make ourselves available for reference phone calls.

Events and Marketing assistant

We are accepting applications for two interns or volunteers to join our small team to assist with the organisation of the 2018 Sydney Peace Prize events.

You will help us reach thousands of Sydney-siders in the lead up to the Sydney Peace Prize events, and be an integral part of our small organising team. This is an opportunity to get substantial experience with organising and coordinating events, marketing, and communications. You will have considerable autonomy but work as part of a supportive and tight-knit team.

You should be available 1-2 days per week, with 2-3 days per week during October and in the lead up to the events in the second week of November. This role is unpaid, but provides free entry to all the events.

Communications assistant

We are looking for a motivated and creative communications volunteer or intern to write print, web and social media content to encourage the Sydney community to make nominations, market the November Peace Prize events, and raise awareness about this year’s Peace Prize recipient and his/her work.

This this is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience, be involved in projects from start to finish, and see the results of your work which you can use for your own portfolio.

Experience with iMovie or Final Cut Pro highly regarded!

Grants Researcher

We are looking for a passionate and motivated grant researcher to assist us with our fundraising efforts!

You would be responsible for seeking grants and raising support from foundations, corporations, and government sources requiring proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects.
