Statement on Bondi Beach Attack
The Sydney Peace Foundation is horrified and distraught in the wake of the mass shooting at yesterday’s Chanukah event at Bondi Beach.
On this first night of Chanukah, people of Jewish faith gather to light a candle to celebrate the triumph of peace and light over darkness. To be confronted by such terror, on an evening that should have been one of peace and joy, is a cause of grief for us all.
We send our deep love, compassion and solidarity to all those affected by this distressing and senseless act of antisemitic violence.
The Sydney Peace Foundation calls for a collective commitment to peace with justice. Now is the time to stand together to recognise our common humanity and remain united as a collective while we all mourn and grieve together for the innocent lives lost and all those impacted.
