Book Launch: Conversations in Peace Volume 2, Celebrating 25 Years

You are invited to the launch of the Sydney Peace Foundation’s latest collection of peace prize lectures from 2012-2022 edited by Dr Lynda-Ann Blanchard and Dr Jane Fulton. Meet the Foundation’s founder Emeritus Professor Stuart Rees, and former Sydney Peace Prize laureates Julian Burnside and George Gittoes.

Julian Burnside: Human Rights lawyer standing up for refugees seeking asylum in Australia, insisting on the rule of law and international legal obligations to achieve a more peaceful and just society. Burnside was awarded the Sydney Peace Prize in 2014.

Emeritus Professor Stuart Rees: Founder of the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies and Sydney Peace Foundation in 1998. Author, poet, academic and human rights activist.

George Gittoes: A humanist artist, film maker and author, exposing injustice, courageously witnessing and confronting violence in war zones. His current film is on the impact of war and conflict in the Ukraine. Gittoes was awarded the Sydney Peace Prize in 2015.

Rawan Arraf: Rawan is a human rights lawyer with a background in refugee protection, administrative law and international human rights law. She is the founder and executive director of the Australian Centre for International Justice, Australia’s first and only legal centre working with affected communities and partners in Australia and abroad fight for justice and accountability for grave crimes.
