2007 Peace Scholar of the Year
Mauricio Bastien Olvera from Mexico City undertook an internship at the Sydney Peace Foundation for six months in 2007. During that time, Mr Olvera worked with school students to develop projects which contribute to peace and justice in their schools, in communities and in international associations.
We are all very different, but I prefer to focus on the similarities that we share… we are all concerned about the same issues in the world…
September 21 – International Day of Peace
Cathrin Jaeger (German Academy Exchange Program scholarship holder) undertook a 3 month internship with the Sydney Peace Foundation in 2007.
A student of philosophy and Germany’s University of Lake Konstanz and an active member of Amnesty International, Ms Jaeger initiated significant research whilst an intern at the Foundation, culminating in a student ‘teach-in’ at the University of Sydney on September 21, International Day of Peace.
Sydney Peace Foundation occasionally offers a Postgraduate Scholarship for Study at the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Sydney.
When the scholarship is being offered it will be advertised by the University’s Research Office News Bulletin and may also be advertised in relevant press.
Donations are accepted by the Foundation for full or a half scholarships.
